Dear Sharon,

Thank you for this insightful blog on women in competition. I have been studying women in rivalry in the book of Genesis and also preached about women in competition this last weekend.

I love that you break it down into either a competitive model or a christ-centred model of friendship and discuss what fruits come from this.

I know the women that I spoke to on this were deeply challenged by what was shared. A lot were able to forgive, be vulnerable, and move on.

Thank you for sharing what you do.

God bless,
Lizzie

Hi Sharon,

Have you ever considered somehow podcasting your blog posts? Of course that would require recording them, but I would love to listen to them as I commute to and from work. Even if you did it monthly or so. Just a thought!

I love this conclusion: There is something about the female heart that seems especially prone to attack women with whom we disagree or feel jealous, and that is nothing but sin. Plain and simple. We can disagree, most certainly, but watch carefully how you do it. God is not glorified by the ugliness of pot-shots and gossip, but Satan revels in it.

The only thing I'd add is that men's hearts are also prone to attack those they disagree with. I've seen it in others and I've seen it in myself and it's ugly. I would have chalked it up to male pride before I read your post today. Now I'll just chalk it up to sinful pride generally.

You also mention the ungracious nature of the article you read. I've had to stop reading a couple of blogs written by teams of men that to me fell into the same error: too much ungracious chest thumping in the name of "discernment ministry." And, like you, it's not that I disagree with these men in their doctrine. That's where they are solid and why I started reading the blog sin the first place. But I saw a distinct lack of the spirit reflected in Philippians 3:15 where Paul says, "All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you."

Thanks for another good one, Sharon.
